UFC 94: St-Pierre vs Penn is sold out

Several hours ago the UFC announced that UFC 94: St-Pierre vs Penn is sold out.

You might think that this is not a big deal. It's potentially the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. It should sell out. Right? Well, certainly. But in this economic climate that is much easier said than done.

A sell out means that the MGM Grand will hold over 14,000 UFC fans on January 31st to witness mixed martial arts history.

The UFC's announcement comes on the heels ofa number of allegations towards Affliction saying that their Day of Reckoning card's ticket sales are... lets say... lacking.

Although sports tend not to be all that affected by recession stricken economies, other major sporting leagues have had to layoff thousands of employees and freeze ticket prices.

If the UFC can truly thrive, not just survive, through the current economic conditions than it will prove that the UFC and sport of mixed martial arts is undoubtedly a sport on the rise. And there is seemingly no decline in sight.
